Our program prepares resilient, culturally responsive educators who are advocates for children and youth in inclusive public education settings.
Through academic experiences including course work and field experiences, our students gain knowledge and understanding of early childhood inclusion—birth through third grade—and practices that promote access, participation and support for young children and their families. JMU students completing the four-year licensure program are prepared to serve as teachers for children birth through third grade with and without exceptionalities—birth through age 5 special education and PK through third grade general education.
