The minor is a part of the Department of English, a program within the College of Arts and Letters.
The English minor offers students an opportunity for further study in literature, literary history, and criticism beyond the General Education requirement. The minor strengthens skills in written and oral communication and critical thinking, expands students’ appreciation of diverse perspectives on our shared world, and may complement and enhance learning in any number of majors, from the humanities and social sciences to finance, computing, or the performing arts.
The requirement for a minor in English is 18 credit hours. At least nine credit hours must be taken in courses at the 300 level or above. A minor in English does not meet requirements for the Secondary Teaching License.
