Break Description

Two people clean up home destroyed by hurricane helene

Access to safe, secure housing is a critical need, but many families in Appalachia are still struggling in the wake of devastating natural disasters. Through the Appalachia Service Project (ASP), you'll work alongside homeowners and other volunteers to repair and rebuild homes damaged by Hurricane Helene, providing families with much-needed stability. ASP focuses on making homes warmer, safer, and drier for those in need, and you can help make an impact!

You might find yourself doing anything from framing, drywall, and insulation to roofing and painting. The work can be challenging, but no prior experience is necessary. Come with a willingness to help and learn. In the evenings, we’ll bond as a team while learning more about the Appalachian region, its culture, and the strength of its communities.

We'll be staying at a local community center or church, so plan to bring a sleeping bag and pillow, and get ready to make a meaningful impact on the lives of families in Appalachia!

The estimated cost for this break is $350 per person. **Please note: prices are subject to change depending on scholarship eligibility (if applicable) and fundraising.**
