A student’s first option for getting help in their chemistry classes should always be their professor. Every professor has regular student drop-in hours and is committed to the success of every student in the department. Student drop-in hours are usually found on the syllabus and on the class CANVAS page. Students also have the option of emailing their professor to make an appointment to discuss class content or assessments. Students should visit their professor before there is a problem.
In addition, the following FREE resources are available for lower division courses:
PEER ASSISTED STUDY SESSIONS:
Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) is an academic support program designed to help your retention and performance. PASS sessions are led by students who have completed the course with the same professor. The PASS leaders attend lectures and hold study sessions. View the schedule for chemistry PASS leaders.
LEARNING STRATEGIES INSTRUCTION:
Learning Strategies Instruction provides individualized, student-centered, academic coaching designed to increase student success. The diverse range of undergraduate and graduate students we serve will be motivated to achieve individual goals by becoming self-regulated learners and building academic and personal self-efficacy.
TUTORING AT THE SMLC:
The Science and Math Learning Center (SMLC) is located at the Student success center and provides free tutoring in lower division chemistry courses. View the schedule of tutors.
