A minor in economics will allow you to develop your critical thinking, research, writing and analytical skills as you build a foundation in economic theory and policy. These concrete and marketable skills can complement and add significant value to a wide variety of undergraduate majors and help you to stand out among your peers.

Eligibility and Required Courses
The minimum requirement for a minor in economics is 18 credit hours in economics and at least six credit hours of 300/400 level economics courses.

Declaration Process
Students should submit a declaration of minor request via MyMadison.
Graduation Requirement
The economics minor requires a minimum 2.0 GPA for graduation on all qualifying economics courses completed at JMU. Transfer credit is not calculated in the GPA.
