5-year licensure program for PK-6 grade educators

The 5th Year MAT, Concentration in Elementary Education, will sunset in May 2023. No new applications will be considered after May 2023.

Application deadlines: All applications should be received by January 31st to ensure review by the program.

Drawn from research and theories in child development, teaching, and learning, the course work and field experiences prepare teacher candidates to employ a cross-disciplinary approach to instruction that reflects an understanding of the diverse nature of learners and their families.

Program length

This is a graduate 5-year Master of Arts in Teaching program.

What should be my undergraduate major?

As undergraduates, students must major in Interdisciplinary Liberal Studies (IDLS) and minor in Elementary Education (ELED).

The IDLS major/ELED minor program will be ending and will no longer be available to freshmen or transfer students.
