Immigration Public Debate
On January 25, 2011 JMU debate team members Zeke Mihelcic and Mark Waugh debated against Megan Coffman and Robert Peters, debate members from the University of West Virginia, over the topic that amnesty should be granted to illegal immigrants currently living in the United States. This event was attended by over 200 members from the JMU and Harrisonburg communities. This public debate was part of a home-home public debate series between West Virginia University and James Madison University; JMU will debate in Morgantown in April 2011.
Biometrics Public Debate
On February 23, 2011 JMU debate team members Allison Bailey and Marie Eszenyi debated against JMU debate team members Jacob Bosley and Samantha Strasser over the topic that Biometric identification of those entering the United States is justified. The debate was attended by roughly 100 members of the JMU community.
