Tanner Pratt is from Pocatello, Idaho. He spent several years in Boise before returning to Pocatello to earn his BA in English from Idaho State University in 2023. He is interested in the intersection between religion and literature, especially the influence of religious institutions and sacred texts on secular modes of producing and interpreting literature. He is eager to explore this relationship in the broad variety of temporal, spatial, and generic contexts in which it appears. He is also interested in film as an important but underacknowledged form of contemporary literature. He plans to pursue a PhD in English following his MA.
Right now, Tanner is revisiting the brilliant Almost Invisible by Mark Strand, and his current favorite movie is the 1992 adaptation of Woolf’s Orlando. Outside of academic reading and writing, Tanner enjoys collecting physical media, hiking, playing the piano, and writing poetry and short fiction. He self-published his first collection of creative work, Leash and Lux, this year.
