Center for Computational Mathematics and Modeling
The CCMM was initially funded as an NSF undergraduate multi-disciplinary research laboratory to perform mathematical modeling using computers. Professors from more than one discipline worked with undergraduates from various disciplines to mathematically model a problem and then obtain approximate numerical solutions using computers.
The CCMM has grown into two components. One component is graphics work stations that are used for both classrooms and professor directed undergraduate research. The other component is a room of several types of high performance computing and visualization systems. Professors and students from various disciplines work in this center on large-scale mathematical models that require parallel computing, distributed memory and/or visualization or animation of large data sets.
