JMU Health Update - April 2

News

Dear JMU Family,

Update on Cases
The university observed 11 new positive cases of COVID-19 at the University Health Center yesterday. With 5 cases considered “recovered,” the total number of active cases is now at 70. The number of open quarantine and isolation beds is 415 out of 434. More information can be found on the university’s Stop the Spread dashboard.

If you have had COVID-19 before, you can still get it again or be a carrier of the virus. All community members need to practice preventative measures, such as wearing a mask when around other people (even outside), washing your hands, maintaining physical distance and disinfecting surface areas.

Vaccination Appointments
The Virginia Department of Health is continuing to expand COVID-19 vaccine appointments. To be sure you are informed when you are eligible for an appointment, register with Vaccinate.Virginia.gov or call 1-877-VAX-IN-VA. JMU employees (including student employees) should indicate “Institutions of Higher Education Faculty/Staff” for occupation. Students should use their local address if they want to be vaccinated locally. Learn more about the different phases and appointment eligibility.
