Specific Provisions:
Theta Chi may not conduct any education, activities, events, or celebrations for new members during the period of Organizational Interim Suspension (includes pledges and individuals who are extended bids to Theta Chi and have not yet accepted a bid to Theta Chi). Theta Chi may still operate as a recognized student organization by conducting administrative functions, including but not limited to chapter meetings, philanthropy, community service, participation in university sponsored events, recruitment of new members, and bid extension to new members.

The only exception to the current provisions of the Organizational Interim Suspension will be the ability for your new members to complete the hazing and other risk management training on the Tightrope platform, as required by your national headquarters. Your new members must complete this online training remotely and individually. The new members may reach out to the new member educator or to Jackie Stelmaszczyk from your national headquarters if they have any questions or trouble with accessing the program.

Incident(s) Description:
In the course of investigating a report of hazing, it was determined that at events on 2/9/23 and 2/10/23 the following behaviors occurred: alcohol provided to underage members; alcohol consumed by underage members.

It was also determined that during Spring 2023 the following behaviors occurred: forced cleaning.

It was also determined that at an event on 2/13/23 the following behaviors occurred: issued punishments of physical activity and/or food consumption; calisthenics; forced consumption of food.

Outcome(s):
Disciplinary Probation, through Spring 2025, with once-a-month review meetings with a FSL staff member, headquarters staff member, and the President and/or designated executive team member(s) in attendance on chapter progress on stewarding chapter culture change and growth/maintenance of non-hazing new member practices

New Member Experience workshop series conducted collaboratively by Theta Chi headquarters staff and JMU FSL staff with 80-90% chapter attendance (provide proof of completion to FSL office) - due May 4, 2023

Membership Review conducted by Theta Chi headquarters staff - done by August 1, 2023

Confrontation and Accountability Workshop conducted by Theta Chi headquarters staff in conjunction with holding the Marshal and Marshal committee accountable through that process, with 80-90% chapter attendance (provide proof of completion to FSL office) - due September 15, 2023
