Admission to the certificate program requires that applicants have completed at least a bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) and have a working knowledge of basic statistics including hypothesis testing, correlation, regression, and significance testing including analysis of variance.
Applicants are encouraged to be engaged in or have an opportunity to engage in assessment practice at his or her home institution.
Applications are accepted on a rolling admission basis every Spring and Fall, with the deadlines for each program listed below:
- Fall — Application deadline August 1
- Spring — Application deadline December 1

- Your academic transcript(s): Please request official transcripts from all undergraduate, graduate, and professional schools you have attended.
- A personal statement: Please describe your interest in the online Higher Education Assessment certificate and why you would make a good candidate for admission to James Madison University.
- A resume: Work experience and career progression are important and will be considered by the Admissions Committee. Resumes should be submitted in a professional format and include: contact information, educational background, work experience, and skills.
