Program Overview

Course Vision: Professionals gain foundational knowledge about project management, and appreciation for their individual roles in achieving project and organizational outcomes. Participants are able to concisely communicate an unbiased perspective of project- and task-level statuses and challenges, for the purpose of supporting informed decision-making by project leaders.

Course Format:

  • Learn using a Class Case Study
  • Work in teams during the training to immediately apply concepts and tools
  • Meet on Zoom for this 100% Online Course, or in-person in Roanoke or Harrisonburg, Virginia
  • Flexible course options include a two, three, or four-day version of Foundations of Project Management, each with 12 hours of live instruction
  • Use Miro, an online whiteboard, for applied learning
  • Textbook included in price

Instructor

George NeighborsGeorge Neighbors is an accomplished global executive with a proven track record of success working in media, entertainment and tech. He is recognized as a transformational leader through change across business, government, academia, and nonprofits at his company, X-Roads Advisory.

His recent consulting and coaching engagements include NIH’s National Eye Institute, NIH’s National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences, LHH, regional government, the Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge, University of Virginia’s Colonnade Club, and regional and local nonprofits.

In his role as Group Vice President at Warner Bros Discovery, he built a global client service organization and managed across a matrixed, hybrid and multinational workforce; created and led a Center of Excellence across global operations; and coached regular people as they managed the change from small business owner, scientist, etc. to become on-screen TV stars.

He began his career at national nonprofits, where he led capacity building, leader coaching, organizational development and training. 

Educated at Johns Hopkins University in Applied Behavioral Science (MS), George continues his executive education and learning in a variety of programs, including Emory University's Goizueta Business School's Executive Coaching program

He currently volunteers serving on the national nonprofit best practices National Council of the Standards for Excellence Institute, as the Workforce Readiness chair and board of Shenandoah Valley SHRM, and on the board development committee of Friends of the Middle River.
