Ed Lajoie - INTA 2011

What is your current position? 

I am the Head of Operational Compliance ofr the HALO Trust, the world's oldest and largest humanitarian NGO focused on the removal of landmines, IEDs, and other explosive debris of war. 

How did the International Affairs major prepare you for this? 

My INTA studies at JMU really opened my mind to the world around me and moved me away from dogmatic beliefs towards critical thinking and reasoned analysis. This impartial approach along with the program's (and JMU as a whole) appreciation of cultural diversity gave me the tools to succeed working with our local staff ont he ground in countries like Afghanistan, Iraq, Zimbabwe, Ukraine and Cambodia.
