Where are you from?  Why did you choose JMU?
I am from Far Rockaway, Queens, New York.  I chose to attend JMU because it provided the best opportunities to achieve my long-term goals. The resources, community, and level of education offered at JMU are like no other. I dreamt of being able to attend a school that provided the kind of opportunities like JMU does to help build my future.  

Why did you decide to participate in Washington Semester?
I chose to participate in the Washington Semester because it allowed me to put my foot in the door into the world of politics. I knew that my career path intended some political experience, so the Washington Semester was the perfect decision to put me on the right course. 

What were the highlights of your internship?
The biggest highlight of my internship experience was meeting one of the most significant role models whom I would call a celebrity, Angela Davis. As someone who is passionate about civial and human rights, meeting her in person is a memory I will cherish forever. 

What advice would you offer to future Washington Semester students?
I advise future WS students not to forget to live in the moment. It is easy to get bogged down by schoolwork and work for your internship, but always take a moment to remember where you're at. So, enjoy every second, explore, meet new people, and make as many memories as possible. 

What are your long-term career plans?
My long-term career plan is to leave an impact. I chose the field of politics because I want to help make a change, whether through pursuing a career in academics or possibly running for office; all I know is that I want to do my civic duty to uplift democracy for those around me.
