Scholarship Overview
An endowed scholarship fund established at Homecoming 1979 by the Black Student Alliance to be used to award a scholarship to a deserving, black incoming freshman. Originally named the Black Student Scholarship, the name was changed in 1998 to provide a memorial tribute to Dr. Lacy Daniel who faithfully advised the Black Student Alliance during his tenure at JMU. The recipient must meet JMU's standards for acceptance; be a citizen of the United States; and have exhibited special accomplishments in extra-curricular activities. The recipient(s) may receive the scholarship only once. The recipient will be chosen by a committee.
