Kyle is a graduate student supporting the Challace J. McMillin Center for Sport Psychology. Kyle is in the Applied Research concentration within the Psychological Sciences Master’s program. He comes to JMU after spending the past several years working as an educator and coach. As a tutor with Compass Education Group, Kyle worked one on one with high school students to improve testing and classroom performance. Previously, Kyle coached college football at Humboldt State, Northern Illinois, and Ohio Northern, additionally spending a season coaching abroad in Sweden. In these roles, Kyle guided athletes on and off the field to reach their goals by instilling role clarity, confidence, focus, and resilience.
Kyle graduated from Denison University in 2014 with a major in Communication and a minor in Psychology. He strives to pair his coaching and teaching experience with his academic interests as he works toward his goal of becoming a Clinical Sport Psychologist. His research interests include mental toughness, cognitive and behavioral anxiety interventions, habits, and the effects of expectations and mindsets on performance.
