Can't stop by the JMU Bookstore before your rental books are due?
You can mail your rental books back to us before the due date. You will need to ship them at your expense. We recommend selecting a trackable service.
Important: to ensure your rental returns are correctly processed to your rental account, follow the steps below to generate your rental packing slip. Your packing slip is crucial to include in your box – it identifies you, what you’re returning, and where to send your rentals.
- Sign in to shopjmu.com using the email you used to rent. If you haven’t set up a password, click “Forgot Password?” to reset. Then click My Account > Rentals.
- Upon sign in, you will be directed to the “Rentals” page in “My Account”.
- Scroll down to view Rental History. Click the “Return by Mail” button (or “Return All Rentals by Mail” link), a pop up will open.
- Follow the steps to print your packing slip. Print 2 copies, one to go in your box, the other to take to your shipping carrier as it has the store address.
- Take note of your tracking # (if provided by the carrier). You will receive an email confirmation when your rental return is processed.
If you have trouble printing your packing list
- Include a note with your name, email address and phone number.
- Include your patron ID number if you have it.
- Write "Rental Check-In" on the outside of the package.
- Mail your books to: JMU Bookstore - 211 Bluestone Dr. - MSC 2902 - Harrisonburg, VA 22807.
If the due date has passed please contact the JMU Bookstore at (540)568-6296 to make other arrangements.
Buyback Conditions:
We only buy back books from JMU students, faculty, or staff. Books must be in resalable condition. (Missing pages, water damage, excessive highlighting, the answers written in, a broken binding, etc. are not acceptable buyback conditions.)
Course Materials Orders:
If an instructor has requested your textbook for next term, then the value increases. Books falling into this category may be worth anywhere from 30% to 50% of the original purchase price. Generally speaking, textbooks will be purchased until we reach our shelf stock limit.
Overstocks and Current Editions Not Being Used on Campus:
If we have reached our limit on a particular title for next term, or if your book has not been requested for next term and is a current edition, we may still purchase it. The CASH back you will receive is based on various criteria including the national demand and the needs of other bookstores.
