This endowment is given to support a graduate student in psychology with a special interest in suicide awareness or suicide prevention.
We are proud to introduce the 2023-2024 recipient:
Angela Ji
"I am greatly honored to be selected as the recipient of the Jonathan D. Davis scholarship. My own encounters with mental illness in the past are what initially urged me to pursue a line of work in psychology. Today, receiving this reward is a tremendous support in my life. Being the first person in my family to pursue higher education, I feel both pride and pressure to succeed in my achievements, which has been stressful to juggle with financial responsibilities. This scholarship helps ease that burden and bolsters my career goals of pursuing a line of work that helps people in crises. I want to extend my greatest thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Davis for helping me take one step closer to that goal. Upon graduating from JMU's School Psychology Ed.S. program, I hope to honor Jonathan's legacy by continuing to work with youth struggling with suicidal ideation and mental illness and helping those who need support."
