Research Interest:
Dr. Womack's research interests consist of two main areas. First, he has had a long-standing interest in hemostatic responses and adaptations to exercise. Specifically, he has pursued several studies looking at how exercise impacts markers of both coagulation and fibrinolysis (clot breakdown) in a variety of populations. Secondly, he has a burgeoning interest in how genetic polymorphisms influence the ergogenic effect of common supplements. We have published recent studies on the effect of a polymorphism on the CYP1A2 gene and how this impacts the effect of caffeine on exercise.
