Class of 2026
Julia chose JMU Engineering because of its non-specific program. "I love that I’ll be learning all types of engineering. It helps to relieve the pressure of having to pick a discipline early in my education."
"I chose to become an EA because, in my freshman year, the EAs really helped me get acquainted with the program. During one of their workshops, they helped me overcome a major issue in my project, and it felt like a lightbulb moment. I now hope to help the next class have the same lightbulb moments I had.”
Julia is acting vice president of the JMU Welding Club and belongs to the Society of Women Engineers. In her free time, she enjoys baking and cooking, playing the guitar and ukulele, reading and spending time with friends.
How is JMU Engineering preparing you for your future?
"I would encourage prospective students to really enjoy the stage they are in. Don't be too stressed about choosing your next steps, and remember to be present in every moment. This is your time to shop around, take your time and select a program that is great for you."
Advice for prospective students:
"Keep your mind open! Most of us have a set plan for our futures, but be open to new possibilities! Try all types of new things like new clubs or new projects. Have an open mind and attitude for the best experience in this program."
