Class of 2026
When Jake applied for JMU Engineering, he was already familiar with the program. “I've always had an interest in math and science. Being a Harrisonburg native, many of my STEM-related classes had events hosted by JMU and the JMU engineering department. It eventually became my home.”
Helping new engineers foster that homey feeling was an important reason for Jake when joining the EA. “I realized that the greatest thing I've experienced at JMU was the community of engineers,” he explained.
Jake enjoys playing games, reading, skating and going on hikes in his spare time.
How is JMU Engineering preparing you for your future?
“Although JMU Engineering isn't discipline-specific, I believe the focus on collaboration, communication and teamwork will be vital to my professional work as an engineer.”
Advice for prospective students:
“It is paramount that you are open to the other students around you; open to making connections that will make your engineering experience much more meaningful and, honestly, easier.”
