Class of 2027

Jillian found a lot to love in the JMU engineering department. She knew she wanted to be an engineering major when she first visited JMU. She said, “The engineering department was exactly what I was looking for.” The program provided Jillian with a plethora of hands-on and collaborative experiences. The friendly attitude of the faculty and the interdisciplinary approach to the program allowed her to learn many different skills. Jillian enjoyed engineering so far and “wanted to be more involved in the major by supporting the department,” which led her to become an EA.

Jillian is on the Executive Board for Cross Country, Track & Field as the race director. She enjoys various outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, kayaking and running.

How is JMU Engineering preparing you for your future?

“I can complete hands-on projects that tie into real-world issues, and in the classroom, I am learning how to meet the needs of future clients. I have advanced in many skills from CAD to the engineering design process. Lastly, the department provides ample job opportunities and resources to students.”

Advice for prospective students:

“The engineering program is rewarding, and professors are always willing to help, so do not be afraid to pursue your interests.”
