Mission Statement:
The Center for Security Studies specializes in the field of national and international security studies and conflict analysis. Activities include research, teaching, and information services. The center has developed and maintains two electronic information services - the International Relations and Security Network (ISN) and the Information Management System for Mine Action (IMSMA). The center at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich was founded in 1986 by its current director, Professor Kurt R. Spillmann. Since 1997, Professor Spillmann has shared the responsibility of directing the center with Professor Andreas Wenger, deputy director. Due to the steady growth in research activities and the increasing number of tasks and functions it undertakes, the center now has a staff of about 75 people working in research, teaching.
