Mission Statement:
Within the UN system, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is responsible for addressing the socio-economic consequences of landmines and UXO, and for supporting national and local capacity building initiatives to eliminate the long-term consequences of the problem. UNDP is primarily charged with assisting mine-affected countries to develop sustainable mine action programmes. To do so, it helps national and local authorities to develop the skills required to plan, implement and support mine action programmes, and to mobilise the necessary resources.
