Better Conversations Together: What our first year students are learning
All first year and new transfer students are participating in a multi-part program designed for building civic dialogue muscles as a part of their required free speech training. The Better Conversations program will help students understand their own views and values, as well as actively listening and productively talking with others across divides. This webinar will cover the basics of what our incoming class will be learning and how you can leverage that content in your courses to have better conversations about difficult issues.

Introduction to Perspectives
JMU’s institutional license to Perspectives gives faculty a chance to embed dialogue into their courses. Perspectives is a blended learning program that equips students with mindsets and skills to engage in dialogue across lines of difference. Six different modules allows for faculty to pick and choose which content serves their courses best. This webinar will introduce faculty to Perspectives, demo a few of the interactive lessons, and discuss how best to add lessons to the course and assess learning.
