To help ensure equity and openness of our environment, JMU began a climate study during Fall 2021. An internal team of faculty, staff and students created a JMU-specific survey to gauge the community’s thoughts on the climate at JMU.
The university worked with Rankin & Associates Consulting, a highly regarded leader in conducting campus climate assessment projects over the last 20 years, to develop and administer the survey. The Climate Study Working Group, an internal team of faculty, staff and students, created a JMU-specific survey to gauge the community’s thoughts on the climate at JMU. We received a final report in April 2022.
After we received the final report, the Climate Study Response and Implementation Team held numerous Action Forums moderated by our consultants. Results from those forums were received late Fall 2022, and we are in the process of discussing and strategizing next steps within the Climate Study Response and Implementation Team.
Multiple efforts to address issues raised in the report were already underway on campus, and these findings reinforced the importance and need for continuing this work.
