The mission of the Education program with a concentration in Teacher Leadership in the College of Education is to advance the teaching profession with education professionals who have deep understanding and application of leadership in instruction, mentoring/coaching, policy, advocacy, and professional associations.
Programs within our department meet the needs of teacher leadership and provide grounding for persons entering or advancing in positions associated with leadership in education.
The Learning, Technology and Leadership Education Department houses five programs or areas of study: Educational Leadership, Learning Design and Technology, Teacher Leadership, Human Resource Development, and Adult Education/Human Resource Development.
The Department also assists with the 21st Century Community Learning Centers outlined by the US Department of Education. The Harrisonburg group is called NETT. The Learning, Technology and Leadership Education Department unites expertise and resources necessary for learning across the lifespan.
