THE OFFICIAL LIAISON BETWEEN THE UNIVERSITY AND PHILANTHROPIC ORGANIZATIONS NATIONWIDE, we specialize in building relationships with corporate representatives, foundation program officers, and the JMU faculty. Our department of Corporate and Foundation Relations focuses on creating mutually beneficial opportunities for collaboration and funding.
Part of the Office of Development, we work to promote university priorities as defined by the Board of Visitors, President Alger, Provost Coltman, and the deans and directors of JMU’s colleges, schools, and centers.
We work with corporate representatives to:
- Find where company values and mission intersect with JMU initiatives and priorities
- Establish strategic partnerships with members of the faculty and staff for research and programs
- Create brand awareness among students in related fields
- Develop a skilled, diverse workforce
We consult private foundations’ program officers to:
- Deliver grant proposals from JMU that align with the foundation’s purpose and funding priorities
- Ensure that the foundation’s procedures and protocols are followed carefully
- Facilitate all reporting as required and requested
We collaborate with the JMU faculty, staff, and leadership to:
- Identify private funding opportunities
- Facilitate productive conversations with potential funders
- Develop (write or edit) competitive gift and grant proposals
- Navigate JMU’s internal grants and gifts processes
