Each year JMU’s Office of Disability Services hosts Disability Advocacy Week (previously Disability Awareness Week). This event promotes knowledge of disability as both a topic and a lived experience through keynote speakers, panel discussions, film screenings, experiential learning opportunities, and facilitating increased engagement in local and global communities. Students who pursue the minor in Disability Studies are encouraged to take advantage of the many DAW events to broaden their knowledge and deepen their community connections.
