Recognizing Honors College Graduates
The Honors College recognizes graduating seniors at a special Medallion Ceremony, held at the end of each semester. The Honors College Dean confers each graduate with an Honors College medallion, which can be worn during other graduation events on campus. The program will includes remarks from the Dean, a student speaker, and the conferring of medallions.
Students must register to participate.

Medallion Ceremony Details
The Honors College Medallion Ceremony is by invitation only. Graduates are required to wear regalia (except for the mortar board/cap) for the ceremony.
Graduates must register to attend. Students will receive registration information at their JMU email address.

Yes! The Honors Medallion Ceremony is for all students graduating from the Honors College. We want to celebrate your accomplishments, and completion of the Honors Interdisciplinary Studies minor is certainly an accomplishment.
Yes! The Honors Medallion Ceremony is for all students graduating from the Honors College. We want to celebrate your accomplishments, and completion of an Honors thesis is certainly an accomplishment.
The Honors College Medallion Ceremony is a ticketed event. The Honors College will distribute physical tickets to students for distribution to their guests.
No, graduates do not need a ticket for the Medallion Ceremony. Graduates will check-in for the ceremony with Honors College staff.
Graduates can claim tickets by completing the Honors College Medallion Ceremony RSVP and Ticket Request that was sent to their JMU email. If you did not receive this email, reach out to Medallion Ceremony Coordinator Haley Thomas at thoma3hn@jmu.edu.
Each graduate is guaranteed four (4) guest tickets. If you need more than four tickets, the ticket request form includes a space to request more if they become available.
Tickets will be available for pickup at the Honors Senior Celebration Event on Thursday, April 25 from 12pm-5pm. If you cannot attend this event, visit Hillcrest after April 25 from Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and ask our student assistant at the front desk for your tickets. Tickets will only be released to graduating students and each graduate must pick up their own tickets.
Graduates will check in with Honors College staff and then line up with other graduates for the processional. All guests MUST have their physical ticket to enter Wilson Auditorium.
Doors will open at 2:30 p.m.
The ceremony will begin at 3:30 pm and will last 75 to 90 minutes.
The following items are prohibited in Wilson Hall.
- Alcoholic beverages, controlled substances, weapons, fireworks
- Noise makers and other devices that impede the ceremony
- Food and beverages
- Gum
- Balloons
- Coolers
- Glass containers
- Signs, flags or banners
Seating for graduating students and JMU faculty is reserved. Seating for guests is first come, first serve. There are some reserved seats in the auditorium for those with limited mobility.
We encourage you to park in Warsaw Parking Deck (157 Warsaw Ave, Harrisonburg, VA 22801) or Mason Street Parking Deck (715 S Mason St, Harrisonburg, VA 22801). Both decks are about a 5-minute walk to Wilson Hall.
We will operate a shuttle from Warsaw Parking Deck to Wilson Hall beginning at 2 p.m., as well as a shuttle back to Warsaw Parking Deck after the ceremony.
We will be operating a shuttle for graduates and their families from Wilson Hall to Atlantic Union Bank Center from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
