Dr. Michael Galgano, Professor Emeritus of History, has been a member of the Honors Advisory Council since 2022. He retired in 2019, more than 50 years teaching History at the university level with the final 35 years at James Madison University.

A graduate of the University of Virginia (BA, '64, MA '66) and Vanderbilty (Ph.D. '71), he taught courses in World and Modern European History, and Research Methodology. His researcha nd pbulications have focused on social, economic, and gender history of Early Modern England.

He directed the Honors program at Marshall University for five years and has been a longtime advocate and supporter of Honors at JMU.
