Opportunities with the United Nations and Other International Organizations
The Department of State strongly encourages qualified U.S. citizens to consider a career with the United Nations and other international organizations. Great opportunities abound for professionals at a variety of organizations including the UN, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), the World Food Program (WFP) and many more. Positions are available at all experience levels, and in a variety of professional fields including humanitarian assistance, food security, peacekeeping, public health, as well as in many other areas. Qualified candidates should have an advanced degree and several years of related work experience; knowledge of a UN language, in addition to English, is highly desirable (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish). More information about opportunities (along with a job alert email subscription service) can be found on the International Organization Careers website, managed by the U.S. Department of State, http://IOCareers.state.gov. We understand that exploring employment possibilities with these many organizations can be overwhelming and time consuming, and our website aims to facilitate job searches and provide greater insight into the many opportunities available with the UN and other international organizations.
