Presentations
Maureen Malomba has been accepted to the International Leadership Association's 6th Women & Leadership Conference on Reflection & Rejuvenation: Inspiring Women Leaders, to be held the 15-17th of June in Portsmouth, United Kingdom.
She will be participating in a round table discussion, sharing findings from her interview with Hindou Oumarou Ibrahim, a young lady from an indigenous community in Chad who is using geography to educate her community about safer and more sustainable farming practices.
Maureen will also be presenting "Against All Odds," a paper about a small, Kenyan community middle school for girls that incorporates a leadership development curriculum.
Kennedy Musyoka will be presenting his paper, Influence of Dynamic Capabilities on the Financial Sustainability of Non-Profits in Sub-Saharan Africa at the 15th International Conference of the International Society for Third Sector Research (ISTR) held July 12th-15th at Concordia University in Montreal.
Publications
Jalal Maqableh has contributed a chapter to the upcoming book, Philanthrophy in the Muslim World, which has been accepted for publication by Edward Edgar Publishing.

Elizabeth Narehood was featured by College Promise News and Insights for her policy brief, Lynchburg Beacon of Hope: Building a Collaborative Framework for Student Success.
Awards
Jalal Maqableh was selected as a recipient of the Graduate Student Association Impact Award. This award recognizes the positive impact Jalal has had on the JMU graduate community through his constant dedication, compassion, selfless efforts, and civic-mindedness.
Maureen Malomba is the recipient of the Meet the Moment for Women and Leadership award. This award recognizes the contributions of her presentations at the ILA 6th Women and Leadership conference.
Service & Engagement
Emily Irungu is now an officer on the board for Bridges International, an organization that supports international students by providing meaningful service opportunities and a community of like-minded others to network with.
Maureen Malomba is serving as the co-chair of the new graduate school international organization, Graduate Leaders Organization to Build Alliance and Links (GLOBAL). This organization is meant to build a supportive community for international graduate students and give them a voice by sharing specific concerns with the JMU comunity.
Tatjana Titareva has been selected to be a part of the Stanford University Innovation Fellows, a program that empowers students around the world to become agents of change in higher education. Fellows work closely with faculty, administrators, and community stakeholders to design and implement initiatives at over 270 schools around the world.
Kennedy Musyoka is serving as an officer for JMU's chapter of Bridges International, an organization that connects graduate students from around the world. Kennedy is also servng as secretary of the ARNOVA Nonprofit Finance and Financial Management section and is a member of the organization's strategic planning team.
