Invited members of the JMU School of Music Artist Scholar Program are eligible for the following:

  • Woman playing violin on stage with orchestraa one-time $500.00 professional development grant while enrolled in the School of Music to pursue an arts opportunity
  • placement in Wayland Hall, the College of Visual and Performing Arts learning community for your first year
  • automatic acceptance into one of the School of Music-led study abroad programs
  • an Artist Scholar badge (micro-credential) from the School of Professional and Continuing Education for completing ARTS 100: Introduction to the Visual and Performing Arts; one interdisciplinary arts course with an ARTS, IART, or ARTE prefix; and either MUS 450: Topics in Music Analysis, MUS 400: Advance Seminar in Musicological Topics, or MUS 485: Advanced Jazz Topics Seminar
  • Spring semester luncheon with the Director of the School of Music and the Dean of the College of Visual and Performing Arts and other Artist Scholar events
  • Access to informational sessions about university and College of Visual and Performing Arts funding opportunities
  • Faculty mentoring on university and CVPA research grand applications
