With over 30 years of diverse performance experience, Brian Caputo has built a dynamic career spanning jazz, classical, country, rock, pop, and avant-garde music. From touring Europe as a teenager with American Music Abroad to performing across Asia and the U.S. with a country rock band, Brian's journey has led him to share the stage with renowned artists like jazz guitarist Peter Bernstein at Smalls Jazz Club (NYC) and collaborate on free improvisation projects such as AZUL with John D'earth and Greg Howard.

Brian's versatility extends to recording studios, where he has contributed to bluegrass, jazz, prog rock, roots rock, country, pop, and folk albums. He has performed with both the Richmond and the Virginia Symphonies and worked extensively in theater productions as a percussionist for the Virginia Repertory Theatre.

Brian performs weekly at the historic Jefferson Hotel in a jazz trio, playing the Roland Handsonic HPD-20 Digital Hand Percussion. He also works with Historical Events Company INC for corporate and private events and continues to engage in studio and contract performances.

Passionate about the intersection of music and storytelling, Brian performs with Ali Webb & Friends, a jazz storyteller project with vocalist Alison Webb, currently performing the music of Dave Frishberg. This project brings music and narratives to theaters, clubs, retirement communities, and assisted living facilities, using performance as a tool for healing, connection, and inspiration.

Brian holds a B.A. in Music Performance from Virginia Commonwealth University, where he studied jazz drum set with T. Howard Curtis III and classical percussion with Barry Dove. He currently resides in Richmond, Virginia.
