Sheryl Watson
NewsSheryl Watson is committed to helping others. As a math tutor, she works with Facets, a nonprofit dedicated to lifting people from poverty; many are immigrants and refugees. It's a fitting role for a Duke who after graduating from Madison worked with Bellcomm and NASA through the last Apollo mission. Her desire to help prompted Sheryl and her husband John, a retired CPA, to fund the Tadlock Watson Scholarship to aid students with disabilities. When their own son struggled with learning disabilities, they realized the benefit of easing the financial burden of such students, allowing them, as one recipient expressed, "to concentrate on studies instead of debt."
