Still a frontrunner

James Madison University’s MBA program remains among the “Best Online MBA Programs” according to U.S. News & World Report. The Master of Business Administration program ranked #25 among over 1,700 online degree programs that the report assessed and ranked. Read more.

Economics degrees repositioned

The BA and BS degrees in Economics awarded by the College of Business have been re-classified as STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) degrees by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV). The change is consistent with the CoB’s longtime emphasis on teaching skills that prepare students for the demands of the job market. It also opens up additional possibilities for STEM-based student scholarship.

PBS continues to screen a 51-minute documentary on the work of the National Black MBA Association. Among those who appear in the program is Alex Gabbin, director of JMU's School of Accounting. Gabbin was the treasurer of the 1970 conference at which the NBMBAA was founded. "Of particular interest," he says, "are some of the stories which reflect the NBMBAA's impact on the lives of young people." Watch here. (Gabbin begins at 10:50)
