Allowable Activities

As a SARA-participating institution, JMU is allowed to enroll students located in SARA-member states and territories into exclusively distance degree and non-degree credit-bearing courses and programs without seeking additional permission -- as long as those courses and programs do not require on-ground interaction with the instructor in that state or territory for more than the allowable time (contact JMU's State Authorization Compliance Officer for information about "on-the-ground" experiences). Nearly all of JMU's fully distant credit-bearing courses and programs are delivered in the online format and do not involve on-ground meetings with the instructor. 

Annual Reporting

Per SARA policies and procedures, JMU is required to annually report the number of exclusively distance education students enrolled in one or more online courses and report the data disaggregated by states and territories where the students are located.
