Join the Madison Leads Planning Committee!

Gain hands-on leadership experience by joining the Madison Leads planning committee! Madison Leads is a one-day leadership conference for JMU students to explore their leadership, network with peers, and reflect on their experiences! The Madison Leads planning committee will assist in creating a positive conference experience. The larger planning committee will also be built of three subcommittees:  

  • Marketing: This committee assists in promoting the event by sending out save the date information, tabling around campus, designing social media posts for the Student Leadership and Involvement Instagram, and more. If you are interested in gaining experience in marketing design, promoting events through tabling conversation, Canva experience, and more, this committee is for you!  
  • Education Sessions: This committee will assist in collecting, reviewing, and accepting proposals from JMU Students and Faculty to present during the breakout sessions during Madison Leads. They will be the point of contact for any presenter questions leading up to the day of Madison Leads. If you want to experience how conferences select presentations, join this committee!    
  • Logistics: This committee is responsible for the logistic planning of the event and ensuring that the event is ready to go the day of. This includes but isn't limited to room set up, selecting a menu for the meal, ensuring speakers have the technology needed to present, managing check-in, and setting up decorations. If you are interested in learning about the specific details it takes to host the conference, this is a great experience to have! 

Applicants will be able to submit their subcommittee preference as a part of the application.  

Committee members will be expected to: 

  • Contribute to their designated subcommittee  
  • Attend reoccurring committee meetings during the spring semester  
  • Attend Madison Leads on April 5th, 2025 

The weekly time commitment for the Madison Leads Committee is estimated to be 1 to 2.5 hours a week. Applications to join the Madison Leads Committee close at Midnight on November 22nd.
