JMU utilizes a number of systems and services that support the administration of student financial services. Financial data generally refers to monetary information collected and processed relating to financial transactions. Student transactions include charging for tuition/fees/services, application of financial aid, and collection of balances due to the university.
The primary systems involved with processing student transactions include the federal Department of Education’s TDClient system (FAFSA data and Federal Loan Origination), Madison Scholarships Hub (awarding foundation aid), PeopleSoft Student Administration (houses the student account), BMTX/BankMobile (refund processor), and various payment service providers (such as M3 and Flywire).

JMU does not sell your student financial information. We share it with:
- Service Providers
that support JMU in its efforts to process financial transactions. JMU utilizes service providers for processing refunds/reimbursements, payment plan administration, payment processing, and collection of past due accounts. We require our service providers to keep your personal information secure and use it only for providing services on the university’s behalf
- Government Entities
that have mandatory reporting requirements, such as:- The Department of Education where we provide federal loan information
- The Internal Revenue Service where we generate form 1098-T for every student annually
- Other various Virginia state agencies
- Internally
with departments that have a legitimate business need (such as reporting the collection of a departmental charge) or reporting need (such as for NCAA reporting or periodic reporting of accounts receivable balances)
Personal information may also be shared when required by law, or to protect the safety, property, or rights of the university, its community members and guests.
