Affinity Groups:

SOGIE’s student affinity groups are identity or interest specific, student-led groups. The groups being offered changes each semester based on interest and leader availability. Leaders facilitate social gatherings and conversation around experience weekly to biweekly. Please check back soon to learn about the groups being offered this semester!

SOGIE Affinity Group and Volunteer Opportunity:

Our SOGIE affintiy group is specifically open to all students, those in the LGBTQ+ community or allies. This group meets frequently for community connection and professional development. Within this group there is an opportunity to volunteer with SOGIE. You do not have to be a volunteer to attend our weekly meetings!

As a volunteer, you will:

• Join a dynamic team of students to spread awareness of the LGBTQ+ community on JMU's campus.
• Spend one hour of your volunteer time each week staffing our Lavender Lounge.
• Assist with tabling events on specific topics pertaining to the LGBTQ+ community.
• Attend weekly meetings to stay up-to-date on volunteer opportunities, build community, and receive professional development.
• Remain professional during all Program events.

Madison Equality

• JMU’s oldest student-led LGBTQ+ organization that focuses on fostering a supportive educational and social environment. If you are interested, email madisonequality@gmail.com.

Shades of Pride

• JMU’s LGBTQ+ organization with a focus on Black and Brown communities and allies. It is a space open to everyone. If you are interested, please DM (@sopjmu) on Instagram.
