Overarching Goals of our Program
The Robert Noyce Scholarship Program is funded by the National Science Foundation and "seeks to encourage talented science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) majors and professionals to become K-12 mathematics and science (including engineering and computer science) teachers". JMU was awarded a 5-year, $1,200,000 Track-1 Noyce scholarship grant in September of 2018. The specific goals of our program include supporting student development as science and mathematics pre-service seconday teachers, identifying the most promising candidates as Noyce Scholars, and supporting Noyce Scholars as new teachers so that they become outstanding educators.
