Advising Notes
View the BBA Management Transfer Guide through the Transfer Virginia Portal. This guide is intended to show you a 2+2 transfer pathway from a Virginia community college to a JMU Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a major in Management.
Direct admission into JMU's College of Business
Please Note: If you are a former JMU student, restrictions may apply to the transferability of the courses listed below. Please consult with a JMU transfer advisor before enrolling in any of these courses.
Students can be admitted into the junior year level of coursework by meeting the following criteria:
- Admission to JMU
- 3.0 cumulative GPA at all colleges attended
- Completion of the following courses with grades indicated:
- ACC 211 (grade of B or better)
- ACC 212 (grade of C or better)
- MTH 261 or 263 (grade of C or better)
- BUS 224 or MTH 155 or MTH 245 (grade of B or better)
- BUS 227 (grade of B or better)
- BUS 270 (grade of B or better)
- ECO 201 (grade of B or better)
- ECO 202 (grade of B or better)
- ITE 120 (grade of B or better; note that ITE 140 may not be substituted for ITE 120)*
Successful completion of the above criteria will allow students to enroll directly into COB 300 and finish the BBA in two years. Students who elect to transfer without completing all the above courses will need to take the remaining prerequisites at JMU and achieve a GPA of 2.7 (B- average) among them (excluding calculus and managerial accounting). It will generally take longer than two years to complete the BBA in this case.
*ITE 120 transfers as COB 204 only from BRCC, LRCC and PVCC. Students at Nova and Southside VA CC may take ITE 100. Students at other community colleges who wish to transfer directly into the College of Business may take either course but only from those specific community colleges.
Differential Tuition for the College of Business majors/minors: Students will be charged an additional $50 per credit for all COB courses (with the exception of ECON 200). Read more about Differential Tuition.
