Anne (Annie) Walther currently serves as Associate University Counsel for James Madison University and Assistant Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Annie provides advice and representation to University administration, and faculty and staff. Annie focuses on practice areas such as financial aid compliance, intellectual property, threat assessment, Title IX, contracts, student affairs, among other matters.
Prior to joining James Madison University in 2023, Annie worked for Virginia Commonwealth University’s Office of University Counsel. Annie has also served as a Law Fellow for the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA) and in various capacities for both public and private institutions of higher education. Her work has been published by Brigham Young University’s Education & Law Journal.
Annie has a B.A. in Public Relations from Westminster College, where she received the Chair’s Choice Award for “Outstanding Contributions to Westminster Organizations” and a J.D. from the University of Richmond School of Law, where she served as the Executive Editor for the Richmond Journal of Law and Technology.
