• Benefits: The Office of the Registrar's VA Certifying Officials assist with the GI Bill® process and serve as liaisons between: the student and Veterans Affairs; Veterans Affairs and JMU; JMU and the student; and the State Approving Agency (SAA) in Virginia and JMU.

    • JMU ROTC
      • The "Duke" Battalion recruits, develops, trains and commissions agile and adaptive warrior leaders to meet US Army leadership requirements and motivate young people through caring leadership to be better citizens committed to lifelong service of the community and Nation. 
    • Air Force ROTC
      • Air Force Reserve Officers' Training Corps (AFROTC) at JMU is established under a cross-town agreement with the University of Virginia. JMU students take AFROTC classes at UVA for JMU credit. AFROTC offers students the opportunity to receive US Air Force officer training while completing undergraduate or graduate studies. AFROTC is the largest of three programs available through the Air Force to earn a commission and serve as an officer in the United States Air Force.  AFROTC offers two, three, and four-year commissioning programs for students of all levels, graduate or undergrad.
    • Naval ROTC
      • JMU currently does not have agreements with any schools and their Naval ROTC programs. If you're interested in joining a Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC), UVA is the closest institution to the program.
    • Naval ROTC - Marine Platoon (http://www.virginia.edu/nrotc/marines/)
      • JMU currently does not have agreements with any schools and their Marine Corps ROTC programs. If you're interested in joining a Marine Platoon, UVA is the closest institution with the program.
  • JMU Counseling

    • The goal of the Counseling Center is to offer the support and services that will ease the transition of returning veterans to college life at JMU and, when necessary, to provide referrals to other JMU and community resources.

    • The mission of the JMU SVA is to provide resources, support, and advocacy in a campus community for student veterans, service members, and military family members.

    • Virginia Values Veterans (V3)
      • This is a program through the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Veterans Services, whose mission is to educate and train employers throughout the Commonwealth on the Value of Virginia’s Veterans, and to help employers connect with these personnel assets to maximize the productivity of their workforce.
