Students who are interested in majoring in AAAD Studies are encouraged to do so by designing their own major as part of the Independent Scholars Program. With the support of Independent Scholar Program faculty and AAAD faculty, our students have designed incredible academic programs in such areas as “Hip-Hop Music Education,” “Race, Narrative, and Inclusivity,” “The Neurobiology of Trauma,” and “The Optimization of African American Maternal Health.” Courses that count toward your AAAD minor, including your capstone AAAD 489 experience, will also count toward your self-designed major.
