My Career Journey

My Career Journey, up to this point, has been anything but linear. I am a native of Virginia but found myself moving to North Carolina to pursue my Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Theatre from High Point University. Although Theatre is a life passion, after graduation I realized that I wanted to do something else as a career. I took many years "testing around" to see what sparked my interest. I completed a year of Vet Tech school, realizing that was not what I wanted. I then served with AmeriCorps for two years- being located in Aurora, CO and working with a Team helping non-profits in the Southwest area of the US, and in Durham, NC working in Environmental Education and Sustainability. This experience did allow me to realize that I love working with individuals and making connections with a community. I then was a Resident Director at my Alma Mater- solidifying my desire to work in Higher Education in a Counseling/Student Affairs area. Next, I completed my Masters in Education (M.Ed.) at NC State University, concentrating in College Counseling and Student Development. After graduation, I was an Academic Advisor- but knew I was meant for Career Advising. Now I am here! Excited to become a Duke Dog, supporting/advising Students with their Career Endeavors!
