My Career Journey
My career path started with my love of coaching self-defense and judo. Coaching as a hobby led to an interest in people, societies, and how people in groups work together and build each other up, so I studied Sociology and Social Work in undergrad. Coaching professionally led to deeper questions about how and why people struggle, which led me to the phenomenal Counseling Graduate Program at JMU. I spent the last four years working as a therapist, serving people of all ages, largely in rural areas, as they overcame challenges, improved their lives, and found a sense of purpose and happiness.
Now back at JMU, I have the wonderful opportunity to help students and alumni develop and design their careers in my capacity as a Career Advisor and Liaison to Student and Cultural Communities.
