All prerequisite coursework MUST be successfully completed prior to enrollment in the program.
The following are the required prerequisite courses: Phonetics, Anatomy and Physiology of the Ear and Voice, Language Development, Audiology and Acoustics of Hearing and Speech.
A complete description of required prerequisite courses is available in the JMU graduate catalog. JMU does not offer prerequisite courses online; however several universities do. The ASHA SLP Program search engine will allow you to search for specific programs to see if they offer online courses http://www.asha.org/edfind/.
Students are also required to complete a course, with a minimum grade of C, in Statistics, Physics OR Chemistry, Biological Science, and Behavioral/Social Science. It is strongly recommended that you complete this coursework prior to enrolling in the MS program.

An undergraduate degree is required for application, but it does not need to be in Communication Sciences and Disorders. You will need to have completed pre-requisite coursework prior to beginning your graduate level studies. Although not required for admission, it is also strongly recommended that you complete the basic science requirements before enrolling in the graduate program.
